🚩Geographical Location🧭
Located near the intersection of Xinyi Road and Dacheng Road in Puli Township, Nantou County, you might be lucky enough to find roadside parking nearby, but most likely there won't be any available.
🪑About the Overall Atmosphere🎡
What catches your eye at the entrance is a black-and-white cat resembling a dairy cow; I initially thought it was a wild cat, but it isn’t afraid of people. Later, I found out it’s the store cat. The interior of the shop is small, with many items hanging on the black walls. The counter has a sashimi and cooking area, and there is free miso soup available inside. The boss’s son, who looks to be in elementary school, helps with serving the food, and there’s a store dog standing at the entrance.
💰About the Prices💰
While waiting for the food, the boss lady highly recommended the salmon roe chawanmushi for $65, which is occasionally available, so I ordered it.
Traditional seaweed sushi roll for $150
Sauce-glazed beef belly rice bowl for $200
Sauce-glazed beef belly rice bowl for $200
🍴About the Dishes☕
The chawanmushi was quite good; besides the salmon roe, it also contained mushrooms and salmon meat; the flavor was mild and not overly salty. The seaweed sushi roll had a traditional flavor and was easy to eat one after another.
The sauce-glazed beef belly rice bowl was unique in that it included side dishes like guava, shredded burdock, halved cherry tomatoes, kimchi, and lettuce, which made it feel somewhat mismatched. Personally, I prefer simpler toppings when eating rice bowls, excluding those that I feel are unnecessary. The meat itself didn't really have a pronounced glazed flavor, but since I eat lightly, I can accept it even without the glaze.
I don't eat pork belly, so I'm not sure about its flavor, but the side dishes looked different.
🤨Conclusion♥
I personally think that considering the environment and the dishes, it’s somewhat expensive, but having a store cat and dog adds a little bonus. The only thing I would consider ordering again is probably the chawanmushi; I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to come here specifically since parking isn’t very easy.
