Delicious eel gets you excited even if it's not during the Doyo no Ushi (Day of the Ox in summer)🥰
I went to eat such delicious eel 🐟
It was at a restaurant called Unagi no Nakasho in Shinsaibashi, which is just a short walk from Shinsaibashi station on various lines 🚃
Here's some information about the restaurant ⬇️
Opened on August 20, 2024!
For over 90 years since its establishment, Nakasho Shoten, a long-established wholesaler, has supplied eel to many famous eel specialty restaurants.
Using high-quality eel that can only be sourced from a long-established wholesaler.
The Kansai-style eel is grilled over high heat,
crispy and fragrant on the outside, while being fluffy and thick inside! The skilled craftsmen grill it delicately in a short time without losing the umami.
The secret sauce, which has been passed down since its founding, enhances the deliciousness of the eel, providing the best possible eel!
The interior is designed with the image of a full moon, inspired by the old saying that "eel can be caught abundantly on full moon days."
In this calm, modern Japanese space, please take your time to enjoy.
There were many people lined up even before the opening‼️
On the table, there were
Sauce
Ground shichimi pepper 🔥
✨
For drinks, I chose
Green tea 🍵
Ginger ale 🫚
✨
I was able to see a bit of the eel grilling, and it looked super delicious with plenty of fat🥰
Unadon (eel rice bowl) 🐟
The eel was so thick that it didn’t shrink even when placed over strong heat, with a crispy, fragrant skin and fluffy, thick meat. It was a luxurious dish featuring a whole eel from "Unagi no Nakasho."
It was served with pickles and soup🐟.
A large eel was cut and served whole‼️
It was thick and perfectly grilled, with a fragrant char and a fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth quality that was incredibly delicious.😍
The sauce was just right and went perfectly with the rice, making it super tasty🥰.
I also sprinkled a bit of ground shichimi pepper, which added a nice flavor and was also delicious🔥.
Pickles
The two types of pickles were delicious✨.
Soup
The simple soup with wheat gluten and seaweed was light and tasty✨.
Hitsumabushi (grilled eel on rice) 🐟
Generously topped with chopped grilled eel on rice.
You can enjoy it as it is, add toppings, or turn it into a chazuke (tea over rice).
It comes with pickles, soup, three types of toppings, and dashi✨.
When I opened the lid, there was plenty of finely chopped eel inside 🥰.
At first, I tried it as is, and even though it was finely cut, the fragrant char and rich, fluffy texture of the eel were very present🥰.
Next, I added the toppings, which created a refreshing and delicious new flavor✨.
Finally, I poured the dashi over it and ate, and the dashi was delicious, light, and kept it from getting monotonous until the end, making it enjoyable🥰.
Umaki (grilled eel rolled in egg) 🥚🐟
The golden, rich rolled omelet was wrapped around the eel🥚🐟.
The rich eel complemented the fluffy rolled omelet perfectly, and it was extremely delicious🥚🐟.
It was also delicious served with plenty of dashi✨.
Everything was delicious, and I was very satisfied‼️
There were many tourists from abroad, but I hope many Japanese people get to try it too🥰.
