During the 228 long holiday, I always sleep in a bit later when I’m back in Yilan, so when I wake up, I have a brunch and then wait for dinner. Previously, I used to go to Xiangyang for brunch, but this time I didn't make a reservation, so we probably wouldn’t get in. I was originally going to try another spot on my shortlist today, but when we got to the door, we found out they opened at 10:30, and we still had 20 minutes to wait, but my daughter was very hungry, so we had to abandon the idea of finding another place. As a result, we unexpectedly discovered a pretty nice restaurant 😊.

This restaurant specializes in vegetarian cuisine. As soon as we walked in, we saw shiitake mushrooms and pea sprouts drying on the tables. Seeing those huge shiitake mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 made it clear that the owner pays great attention to ingredient selection. There are also displays on the wall highlighting the health benefits of various vegetables. The menu includes handmade rice balls, set meals, noodle soups, American burgers, and cheesy soft bread. Depending on the type of meal, the side dishes vary and can include seasonal vegetables/salad, pickled small bites/fries, and drinks.

After hesitating for a while, I finally ordered a Japanese Okinawan Agu pork rice ball and a Western-style burger made with soft bread. About 10 minutes later, the soft bread with the burger patty was served first. The vegetables inside the soft bread burst out; the restaurant even provided gloves to hold while eating. It was all very thoughtful ❤️. In addition to the soft bread, there was also a fairly large lettuce salad 🥗, and of course, the lettuce was very fresh. The dressing was my favorite sesame sauce, and the bread had a cheesy crust, with a slice of cheese, a slice of tomato, and plenty of vegetables. The burger patty was made of four small round pieces which were also fresh and sweet, making it completely guilt-free. I was so engrossed in the taste that I forgot to take pictures 😂.

When the other handmade rice ball 🍙 was served, I was amazed; the presentation was incredibly delicate. Besides the two big rice balls, there was a plate of stir-fried cabbage, cold tofu, burdock root, and two small pieces of bread (the sauce on top was delicious, although I couldn’t quite figure out what the ingredients were). We, two adults and one child, completely overindulged with the two meals.

The overall style of the restaurant leans towards Japanese, from the menu to the decor, emanating a warm vibe. The owners are a couple, and the service was also quite good 👍. One can feel the owners' high standards for ingredients from the meals, and everything was delicious 😋. The most important thing is that I only realized it was a vegetarian restaurant when I was leaving. I really didn’t think that the burger patty and Agu pork were plant-based! I wouldn’t have known at all without checking.
