🍲 Ichiji Hot Pot
Located inside the Mofan Mall at Beautiful Island Station, on the same level as the Dome Hall.
It features a Japanese style.
As soon as you enter, the staff will show you to your seat and introduce their signature Sukiyaki broth.
Ordering is done by choosing the broth + meat at a set price, and then you can decide whether to add other meats, seafood, vegetables, etc.
Side dishes include white rice, wide rice noodles, or Prince noodles.
The self-service area offers a beverage bar, shaved ice, sauces, additional broth, and utensils.
This time, I chose the simmered bone (tonkotsu) pot + pork belly for $250.
The vegetable platter seemed to have a lot of cabbage, but only two pieces of bok choy.
There were only three or four hot pot ingredients, which felt a bit lacking in variety.
The broth had a pretty strong flavor, but it became a bit greasy towards the end.
I felt the meat slices were a bit not fresh, with a very noticeable pork flavor (hard to describe...).
I had to dip them in sauce to make them palatable.
The portion size and texture were okay, so I deducted some points.
I found the lamb ordered by my friend tasted a bit better.
Another point deducted was when we asked the staff which was pork and which was lamb when the dishes arrived; the staff got it wrong...
This was clearly unprofessional.
Overall, it was quite ordinary.
If I hadn't been to Beautiful Island Station, I wouldn't have gone out of my way to eat here.
For this price range, there are definitely better options available.
