The ancients said that people in Suzhou are awakened by a bowl of noodle soup in the morning. It means that pasta is an indispensable staple food in life for Suzhou people.

Yuxingji, which opened during the Qianlong period, has been passed down to this day after a century of historical inheritance. This is a noodle shop that I was looking forward to visiting when I was doing my homework.

As soon as you enter, you will be surprised by the variety of dishes on the wall. Here, you order first and then sit down. If tourists don’t know what to order at first, it is easiest to order a set meal like we did.

What the two of them ordered for dinner today is:

Crab heaven and crab deluxe set meal for two persons (¥258) includes

-Three consecutive side dishes*1
They are kelp, spicy dried radish and grapes. The taste is ordinary, the grapes are very sweet, but since it was given as a gift, I don’t really care about it.

-Hand peeled shrimp*1
The small shrimps are fat and white, and have no flavor on their own, but when sprinkled on the mixed dry noodles, the visual effect is great. Eating them with the noodles increases the taste of the shrimps.

-Crab sticks, crab powder, crab roe1 each
-Vinegar1 small dish
-Dry noodles*2
What is served here is straight thin noodles with a little fried green onion sprinkled on top.
The way to eat it is to mix the noodles first and fluff them up, then pour in the crab sticks, crab powder and crab roe before mixing. You can choose whether to add some vinegar to enhance the freshness. Stir evenly and then pour in the hand-peeled shrimps for garnishing.

All I can say is that it’s really great! class! good! eat!

The crab meat and crab roe are evenly wrapped on each noodle. You can taste the fragrance of the crab and the freshness of the crab roe. The noodles are cooked just right without being soft. It is really delicious and you can't help but take one bite after another. Halfway through the meal, you can add some spicy oil from the table for another flavor, but still retain the aroma of crab. The thought still makes my mouth water.

The clear shredded egg soup tastes good. When you get tired of noodles, you can have a mouthful of noodles and a mouthful of soup, which is a treat👍

There are many other restaurants selling crab roe noodles in Shanghai. I don’t know if there is a better one because I don’t have a comparison. But if you don’t know which noodle shop to choose, check to see if there is a “Yu Hing Kee” nearby. Disappoint you!

P.S. The price of the Crab Heaven and Crab Ground set meal in the store is ¥409. You can buy it on Dianping first for ¥258. There is a big price difference.
