When you're in the northern part, you must try the Da Guo Ye Italian ice cream.
I remember a few years ago, the owner originally planned to study abroad and wanted to close the shop. During that month, we went to eat there every weekend. Later, his younger brother took over the shop, and now it has returned to the owner 🩷🩷.
Over the years, the ice cream has been continuously improved, and the current Da Guo Ye really won my heart. The prices vary depending on the flavor, usually between $90-160.
The special thing about the flavors here is that many use Taiwanese fruits, and even more special are the fruits produced in Penghu, which are launched seasonally and in limited quantities 👍🏻. Previously, there was a Jaboticaba flavor, which my friends said was great, but unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to satisfy my craving then.
My personal favorites are #ThaiMilkTea, Hippopotamus's favorite #Chocolate, and this time I tried #Coconut flavor, all for $90. I also found out there are new flavors: Pistachio and Rice wine Cherry, which sound very special 👍🏻.
The portion for one scoop is quite large, so if you're not as greedy as Hippopotamus, one scoop per person is just right! The waffle cone is sweet, and if you take two scoops, it's better to get it in a cup to avoid getting too sweet at the end.
#ThaiMilkTea
The flavor is rich and thick, but not overly sweet. It perfectly transforms Thai milk tea into delicious ice cream with a hint of bitterness from the tea and a strong milky flavor 👍🏻.
#Coconut
Unexpectedly formed a Southeast Asian flavor. Thai milk tea + Coconut, this combination I really love! Instead of just saying coconut, it's more like coconut milk~ The coconut flavor is very strong, with finely shredded coconut meat. It's genuine and, in my first try, it's a must-try flavor.
#Chocolate
This is considered a classic flavor that every ice cream shop would have. However, Da Guo Ye's chocolate is anything but ordinary. It has a rich and layered bittersweet chocolate flavor, probably about 75-80% cocoa, slightly sweet and slightly bitter. It's my favorite chocolate flavor I've tried so far 😍.
