Dining Time: 2024/12/15
When visiting Sun Moon Lake, I didn’t want to eat the local mountain products while fighting through the crowds in the old street. So I searched and found the Shao Chinese Restaurant at the Wyndham Hotel.
The restaurant is located at the back of the hotel lobby on the second floor. We had lunch that day, and it opened promptly at 12 o’clock.
After being seated, we first chose our tea; today we had osmanthus oolong. They also served complimentary appetizers—a pickled radish that was sweet and sour, very appetizing.
This time, the two of us ordered a total of:
⭐️ Pan-fried preserved meat radish cake
Perfectly pan-fried, crispy on the outside, served with soy sauce, it was delicious radish cake.
⭐️ Crab roe and scallop siu mai
The filling had shrimp in addition to meat, making for a siu mai bursting with seafood flavor.
⭐️ Cheese shrimp cake
Be careful when eating this, as biting into it hot will cause the cheese to spill out, accompanied by shrimp and a crispy pastry.
⭐️ Fresh shrimp tofu skin roll
This was my first time trying a tofu skin roll with such large shrimp inside; I was really impressed!
⭐️ Black bean sauce spare ribs
After all the seafood, we thought we should have some meat XD. The spare ribs were very tender and didn’t have any chewiness.
⭐️ Baby cabbage in broth
Fresh baby cabbage served with broth; I recommend this as well.
⭐️ Sesame mushroom soup (vegetarian)
The final soup was served; by this time, we were already full. After drinking a bit, we packed the rest to take home. When reheated at home, it didn’t become too salty. If you don't want anything too strongly flavored at the end, you might consider ordering this dish.
This restaurant was a pleasant surprise we stumbled upon. During our visit, there were only two tables occupied at lunchtime. While settling the bill, I chatted with the staff and learned that the restaurant opened in June 2024 and is not yet widely known. The chef returned to Sun Moon Lake to serve out of love for his hometown. So, I highly recommend everyone to come and try this place if you’re tired of the mountain products at Sun Moon Lake!
