Located outside Taitung Train Station, "Lao Dongfang Grass Tea" is a popular local beverage shop known for its traditional herbal tea. When I visited this time, there were about five to six people lined up at the door. Although that’s not too many, it still indicated the shop's popularity. I ordered a cup of mildly sweet Dongfang herbal tea and specifically used my own take-out cup, which allowed me to get a five-yuan discount; that was quite thoughtful. However, at 60 yuan for a cup of herbal tea, it’s actually quite expensive compared to the 30 to 40 yuan I usually pay near my home.

The moment I took a sip, the refreshing taste of the herbal tea hit me, and it was very refreshing, particularly suitable for hot weather. However, after finishing the whole cup, I felt that the mild sweetness was still a bit on the high side, making the flavor slightly too sweet for my liking. Although the herbal aroma of the tea was strong, overall, the taste didn’t have particularly outstanding features, which made it feel somewhat average.

In summary, Lao Dongfang Grass Tea is suitable for tourists wanting to cool off and try traditional drinks, but if you, like me, are sensitive to sweetness, you may need to consider your choice of sweetness level.
