"Tuen Mun Popular Rice Bowl"
Usually in Tuen Mun, I mostly eat Yun Chuan 😹 A friend who doesn't live in the northwest recommended this place. It seems quite reputable! On that day, it was pouring rain, and there was only our table of customers, so we didn't have to wait. However, the sea urchin bowl was already sold out 🥲
Black Clay Pot Bowl | 205
This bowl has a relatively rare shape: sweet shrimp paste, scallop, small squid, black flying fish roe, and black truffle sauce. The texture is rich, and the fragrance of the sweet shrimp mixed with black truffle is very prominent. Highly recommended!
First Layer Bowl | 245
Classic rice bowl: two types of fresh fish from Lijiang (4 pieces) tuna belly (2 pieces), sea urchin, scallion tuna paste, white shrimp, and salmon roe. The ingredients are fresh!
Each rice bowl comes with seaweed soup and a slice of cheese, both carefully prepared by the small shop. The broth is fresh and sweet, and the cheese is not greasy. You'll want to eat more because it tastes familiar, like the cheese in a cheese pancake. It's a very novel appetizer! The price is slightly expensive, around HKD 200 or more for each dish, but each serving is substantial. I would also like to try their snacks if I have the chance.
Environment | Small, fresh, light wood Japanese design. The shop is not big and can accommodate around 10 customers. There are bar counter seats to choose from.
Service | The boss lady (?) is very nice. After eating, she doesn't rush us out and even tidies up the table so we can chat more comfortably.
💸 | ~500 / 2 people (dinner)
