Taichung General Station Night Market is a night market that offers a mix of food and entertainment. For someone like me who enjoys exploring delicious food... I basically skipped the entertainment part and wasn't very interested. 🙂‍↔️ Compared to the food options, there weren't many choices available. Even for stinky tofu, I only had the option to choose between two stalls on that day.

Sticking to the principle that crowded places are usually safe bets, I ultimately chose the one with more customers—Guan Lao Ye Stinky Tofu.

Regarding the seating: it was crowded. It wasn't comfortable at all. However, compared to having to eat on the go while it's hot, the tables were relatively clean. But since it’s an outdoor night market, it’s unavoidable to see flying mosquitoes and scraps of paper on the asphalt ground that are hard to pick up.

The owner served the food quickly! The turnover rate of seating was actually quite high, so we didn't have to wait too long; a table was available right away! Considering it was a weekday and that we still had to wait a bit, the business was pretty good!

Stinky tofu was just one of the items on the menu. There were also some people and small families eating hotpot. However, I was just craving a snack to satisfy my appetite, so I only ordered the stinky tofu this time. 😋

As for whether I would visit again? 🤔 If I happen to be back at this night market and want to eat stinky tofu, I would probably consider it. 🤔 But I don't think I would actively seek it out; it hasn't really reached that level of deliciousness or attractiveness for me yet. 🤚 Therefore, I give it 3.5⭐️.

Fried Stinky Tofu $60 Besides Taiwanese pickles, the boss also adds shredded cucumber and minced garlic. It comes already drizzled with sauce! No extra spice added! Otherwise, there would be extra chili sauce. The prices are really getting more and more expensive 🙂‍↔️
The Doubanjiang is self-served, a bit salty. Later I thought this should be for hot pot, because the stinky tofu is already drenched in sauce and is quite flavorful.
The meal this time looks great~ The bean paste is really unnecessary ( Later, when I dipped it, it tasted too salty, so there's really no need to dip in the bean paste anymore.
Stinky tofu is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It meets expectations, just like the typical stinky tofu you would imagine: crunchy and fragrant, but not really that smelly.
Sauces and utensils are available for self-service at a small table.
Just leave it here after you're done, the boss will come back to collect it soon. To be honest, I didn't see a recycling bin for people to throw it in either. 👀
Store sign If you want to come directly to the night market, just walk straight to the end at the entrance. It's at the very last row.
