【Foodholic Niko @ Lanyu】
"Ali's Breakfast Shop" is located in the Hongtou tribe in the southern part of Lanyu. It is said to be a must-try breakfast spot in Hongtou, famous for its limited daily flying fish rice balls. There are reportedly only 60 available each day, and each customer is allowed to buy only one. By around 7 a.m., they are often sold out, so if you don't arrive early, you won't get to try them.
"Ali" in Lanyu language means "very small," and the shop is indeed quite small, resembling a pavilion built on a hillside. The seating is almost all facing the sea, making it feel like you're sitting on a slope enjoying breakfast while gazing at the ocean.
Since we were staying in the Langdao tribe, which is directly opposite, we arrived at the Hongtou tribe around 10 a.m., so we missed out on the flying fish rice balls and only had the toast option left.
Walnut Cheese Toast
At first glance, it didn't seem like there was much spread on the toast, and it looked quite thin, but it turned out to be really filling! I really liked the walnut cheese spread; you could really taste the walnuts, and it was very aromatic. The only downside was that the toast was not crisp enough.
As for the black tea, it tasted very ordinary; it’s fine for quenching thirst, but nothing to specifically order.
In addition to the flying fish rice balls, "Ali's Breakfast Shop" has another highlight: the owner, who is truly warm and charming, chatting with customers. I really love the people of Lanyu~~ I hope next time I can get to try the flying fish rice balls!
