There are two famous fried dumpling restaurants in Shanghai. I ate at two of them during this trip, one is the chain store "Xiao Yang Sheng Jian" and the other is the time-honored "Da Hu Chun". I also visited the one-Michelin-star local restaurant "Renhe Guan". I also ordered its fried crab meat buns at that time, which must be considered a very gourmet spirit!
Those who are interested in Shanghai pan-fried buns can check out the reviews of other stores!
This time I would like to recommend the chain store "Xiao Yang Sheng Jian". I ate it twice during the trip because I thought it was so delicious! ! Moreover, the minimum amount is four, and each one is not too big, so you won’t be too full after eating. There are also many branches. It's very convenient to take a box of it back to the hotel for a late-night snack when you take a walk after dinner.
This time I ordered:
-Double combination of prawns and yang (¥17/4 pieces)
The two flavors of prawns and yang (pork) are satisfied at once. The fried prawns contain fully wrapped shrimps and the shrimp meat is chewy. It is not bad, but it feels a little thin after eating. I prefer the signature Xiao Yang flavor. The pork filling is really seasoned and delicious. It tastes completely different from the fried dumpling fillings eaten in Taiwan. It is full of flavor without adding any soy sauce or other sauces. Moreover, the skin of Xiaoyang Shengjian is not thick, so it will not make people feel like they are eating flour skin. The ratio of dough to meat filling is just right.
Both times we took it out to eat (the fillings are on the order menu as shown). They were already cold when we ate them, but they were still very delicious. It would taste even better if we could dine on site.
In addition to pan-fried steamed buns, they also sell noodle soups such as Laoya Vermicelli Soup and Hot and Sour Rice Noodles. They all look good. I hope I can try them if I have the opportunity in the future. But for those who are inconvenient to eat, it is highly recommended to simply take out a fried bun to eat!
