This store is quite delicious in my opinion, but because it's a bit far away, I haven’t actually eaten here many times. 😂 At first, when I saw the name “Taco Rice,” I had no idea what kind of dish it was. After looking it up online, I discovered that Taco Rice is a specialty dish from Okinawa! It is inspired by Mexican tacos, combining Japanese white rice with ketchup, cheese, ground meat, and lettuce, turning it into a creative rice bowl full of Japanese style.
Okinawa Taco Rice + Fried Egg (130 NTD)
I came back today to savor it again, and this time I ordered the version with a fried egg. The overall flavor is quite strong, with the saltiness being quite pronounced, but when the cheese melts and blends with the ground meat, it creates a rich aroma that pairs perfectly with the rice. The lettuce and tomato play a role in balancing the flavors, making the bowl not overly greasy. (But it's really salty, so you’ll need to drink more water to help with digestion. 😂)
I’ve also had their fried pork cutlet and fried chicken before. The outer layer is crispy and not greasy, while the meat is tender, and the quality is very stable. It's the kind of fried food that makes you want to order it again after trying it.
I hope one day I can have the chance to eat authentic Taco Rice in Japan. 🤤 I’ll come back to compare and see where the differences with Taiwan are!
