Foodie at Panxi Restaurant - What to Eat
"Food is in Guangzhou, flavor is in Xiguan"
is an old saying in Guangzhou's food culture, and Xiguan is a historical cultural district in the Liwan area of Guangzhou.
Panxi Restaurant is located near Liwan Lake, featuring classic Lingnan architecture and is a very famous restaurant.
When visiting China, aside from enjoying delicious dishes, it’s also worth understanding the stories behind each restaurant.
Walking into Panxi Restaurant feels like Liu Laolao visiting the Grand View Garden, with small bridges, flowing water, lake scenery, and waterfalls.
Just strolling through Panxi Restaurant is well worth a slow 30-minute experience.

Thoughts
With such portion sizes, two people cannot finish it completely.
Recommendations:
Stir-Fried Beef Ho Fun, full of flavor.
If served as a main dish, it’s highly recommended; the beef is tender without being coated in starch.
Soup-Poached Seasonal Vegetables are fresh and crunchy; a small downside is that the restaurant did not cut them to maintain their integrity.
General Recommendations:
Rose Soy Sauce Chicken
Lacks a strong rose aroma, with moderate saltiness; the oil chicken is chewy and bouncy.
Traditional Roast Goose
This dish is the most impressive, consistently kept at high temperatures from start to finish, not much different from the roast goose elsewhere.
It doesn’t have any distinct aroma or memorable features; it’s edible, but next time, I might choose a different dish.
Both of these two dishes are kept warm using candlelight below!
Even when we were nearly full, the roast goose was still steaming hot.
Crispy Sweet and Sour Pork
Compared to what I’ve had in Taiwan, the sourness and sweetness are a bit lacking,
and the pork has no fibers; it tastes very much like deep-fried chicken nuggets.
Bonus Points:
After paying the bill, the restaurant said,
you can keep the receipt to play games nearby and receive gifts.
You can play a ring toss-like game! It adds a lot of fun to the dining experience.
Waiting Time:
Dishes arrived consecutively in 5-10 minutes.
