One of the hidden gems of my little Kaohsiung😍 I have to come here every summer.
This place is located across from Master Tai in Xiaogang, and since there’s no sign, you wouldn’t notice it unless you specifically looked for it (I'm also curious how I discovered it back then...).
The shop has a very nostalgic vibe, and the products they sell are also quite traditional.
They offer a classic type of shaved ice that is rarely seen these days, with various flavors like strawberry (strawberry jam), chocolate, condensed milk, and tapioca pearls.
I always order red bean 🫘 whenever I come!
The sweet red beans made by the uncle and aunt are super delicious!!! They aren’t overly mushy; they are well-cooked but still retain the texture of the beans, which is the kind of deliciousness you remember😋.
However, this time the uncle said they only have mung beans.
He also asked if I wanted to add condensed milk (I highly recommend it—sweet beans and condensed milk go perfectly together 👍🏻. There’s nothing that doesn’t taste good with 🦅 brand condensed milk).
This bowl of mung bean shaved ice with condensed milk, which I took a very ugly photo of, costs $50.
(A small downside is that this shop doesn’t have clearly labeled prices on the menu; there are no prices listed for the items, so I still recommend asking the shop for prices before making a decision).
Additionally, this shop starts selling breakfast at 6 in the morning.
But maybe because I only have ice on the brain, I’ve been here several times, and it wasn’t until I went to take a picture of the menu that I realized it's not just an ice shop 🙂↕️. I’ll have to come back for breakfast next time when I get up early.
