User review: There is a restroom

This is a cozy little Japanese restaurant called "Zhi Wei Handmade Japanese Cuisine," located near Exit 2 of the Xinpu MRT Station. The environment inside is comfortable, the atmosphere is nice, and the service is very friendly, making it a place where one can relax and savor the dishes.

During this visit, we ordered the following dishes, totaling $1,400:

  1. Cod liver salad $210
  2. Japanese fried pork cutlet set meal $280 — The pork cutlet is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, very delicious.
  3. Fried soft-shell crab $160 — Fried to a crisp, with a light and non-greasy texture.
  4. Grilled choice donburi (choice of two out of four) $430
    • Grilled scallops (three pieces)
    • Grilled flounder cheek (one serving) — Rich in fat and melts in your mouth, paired with vinegared rice, it's truly something you can't stop eating.
    • You can choose "half rice" for the donburi, which is very considerate for those with smaller appetites.
  5. Fresh shrimp hand roll $70 — Made fresh to order, with a strong flavor of the sea.
  6. Chilled seasonal vegetables $90 — Steamed broccoli served with sauce, simple yet refreshing and tasty.
  7. Grilled cod roe with yam $160 — Crispy on the outside, the yam is dense, and the cod roe adds a savory flavor.
  8. Chawanmushi (included in the set) — Smooth and delicate in flavor, slightly salty but very good.

Overall, every dish reflects the chef's careful presentation and cooking techniques, combining flavor and detail, making it a small Japanese restaurant worth revisiting.

This is one of our favorite places to visit. The food is tasty and for children under 3 they give you a seaweed rice ball, steamed egg and drink for free, which our toddler enjoys. Service isn't super responsive and you should ring the service bell to get tea refills. But we love this place and come back often, highly recommend if you go to megacity mall and especially if you have kids under 3.

This place has a nice outdoor seating area in front and also in the back, especially nice when Vanderbilt Open Streets is running, as then the street is closed to cars and there are a lot of events like live bands, so the atmosphere is festive. The sushi here is fresh and tastes really good, very happy with the Ocean Lover roll which has salmon, tuna and avocado. The tonkatsu curry is also really delicious, especially the fried pork cutlet is really juicy and goes well with the curry sauce, and the rice is also fragrant. The curry has a nice kick as well. This is also a place we frequent quite a bit.
