"Oishi Sushi & Grill" is located near Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek, CA hospital, just a 10-minute walk away. After being delayed for lunch while accompanying a patient, I was hungry and looked for a nearby restaurant. To my surprise, there were still restaurants open close to 3 PM (11 AM to 9 PM), and it was my favorite Japanese restaurant.

You can still order lunch bento until 3 PM. That's great! I ordered a salt-grilled mackerel bento for myself and also took out a dragon roll sushi. This is my safe choice when eating Japanese cuisine.

The restaurant didn't have any East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) staff, which made me a bit concerned about the authenticity of the Japanese cuisine, so I didn't have high expectations.

The salt-grilled mackerel bento looked good. The fried vegetables were larger than what I usually have. Moreover, the main dish, the salt-grilled mackerel, was also a generous portion. The flavors were great. It seems I worried for nothing. The only minor thing is that I had to pick out a few bones from the fish. The fish was quite large, with most of it being boneless, so it was fine to pick out the small bones while enjoying the big piece of fish.

The Dragon Roll was eaten later and tasted as delicious as I expected.

While this Japanese restaurant may not compare to other Japanese restaurants I've reviewed, it is still acceptable. I would still recommend it.
