This roasted suckling pig sandwich shop "Antica Porchetteria Granieri 1916" is not far from Florence's Piazza della Signoria and the Wild Boar Fountain. There is actually a famous sandwich shop nearby called "All'Antico Vinaio", but we passed by it today I thought this small shop looked good. The counter window was transparent, and you could directly see the roast suckling pig placed there. It was quite eye-catching, so I decided to buy it and try it~
The clerk was a young boy. We saw a few children running over to the clerk and asking if we could try it for them. The clerk cut the meat directly for them to eat, which was quite generous!
There are a total of 7 sandwich flavors. We were not sure which one was delicious, so we chose two at random (don’t ask me what those two product names mean, I don’t know. I just looked at the contents to order. 😂)
CAPOCCIA €6 (green sauce and spicy are added for an additional €1, so it is €7)
It’s the simplest roasted suckling pork sandwiched in bread. The seasoning is mainly from green sauce and spicy. However, it doesn’t actually taste spicy, but has a bit of tomato flavor (?). The green sauce tastes quite refreshing, but I can’t taste it. What does it taste like hahaha
NORCINO €8
In addition to roasted pork, the contents also include pecorino cheese and green sauce. Although it is not unpalatable, the cheese and roasted pork slices do not seem to go well together.
Overall, I think the bread is a bit hard, some of the tender parts of the pork have a bit of pig flavor, and other parts are a bit dry. The taste does not meet my original expectations, so I would not recommend it to friends.
