"The Islander Ice Dog Store" is a café, dessert shop, and ice cream shop that my friend highly recommended after she found out I was coming to Lanyu. It's not far from Kaiyuan Port, and it should take about 5 minutes by scooter. You can easily plan to stop here for afternoon tea right after you disembark.
Before entering the store, remember to check the dining guidelines. Things to note include:
- There is a minimum order of one bowl of ice or one drink per person (desserts do not count towards the minimum).
- You cannot change seats, and do not take food away from your seat for photos, and ensure you don’t disturb other customers while taking pictures.
- If there is a waiting line, dining time is limited to 60 minutes.
I have to highly recommend the view at "The Islander Ice Dog Store." Eating afternoon tea while looking out at the sea is simply wonderful. As soon as you step inside and see the large windows overlooking the ocean, it’s so therapeutic that you’ll fall in love with this place immediately! (The staff is also very friendly!)
Inside the store, there are many books and picture books, and they also sell some small items like accessories, clothing, and postcards.
Homemade Sweetened Condensed Milk Red Bean Shaved Ice - $150
This ice dessert is very photogenic because it's extremely tall, and the tiny red beans on top are quite cute! There’s already condensed milk served with it, but they also provide an extra small dish so you can add more if needed. However, I think it’s already quite sweet! It’s really refreshing to have this in summer!
Honey Earl Grey Milk Tea - $160
This drink has a mildly sweet taste, with a hint of honey flavor paired with milk, which feels quite soothing. Although the price isn't very cheap, the store mentions that you can refill the tea bag!
Just for the scenery and atmosphere, I would highly recommend "The Islander Ice Dog Store," and combined with the good taste of the dishes, it definitely deserves five stars!
