I went to a lovely restaurant in Tamatsukuri that serves delicious hot pot, ingredients from the Senshu area, and good sake. 🍲
It's called Nabemuu, which is such a cute name, and it's located just a short walk from Tamatsukuri Station on the JR Osaka Loop Line and also close to Tamatsukuri Station on the Osaka Metro. 🚃
The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice and calming. ✨ The chopstick rests shaped like origami cranes were adorable. ✨
For drinks, I ordered:
- Orange mikan chuhai 🍊
- Draft beer 🍺
- Nose ginger ale 🫚
I enjoyed the Senshu kaiseki course. ✨
Appetizers:
- Sushi with hirame (Flounder) and onion soy sauce: The hirame was rich and melted in my mouth. 🐟 The onion soy sauce was crunchy and flavorful, making it very tasty. 🧅
Sake before the meal:
- Today's sake: Azakura Ringo-chan 🍎: Even for someone like me who doesn't often drink sake, I enjoyed it very much. 🍎 It had a pleasantly sweet flavor. 🍎
Grilled new onions 🧅:
Served with fresh shichimi spice from Kishiwada. 🔥 I peeled two layers of the onion to eat. 🧅 It was incredibly sweet and delicious. 🧅 The fresh shichimi spice was also tasty and added a nice little kick. 🔥
Senshu Sakana 🍷:
- Grilled Inu Nakibuta (Inu Nakibuta Pork) belly: It was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the sauce. 🐷
- Roast pork from the pork tenderloin: Very soft and juicy, it matched well with the slightly sweet sauce. 🐷
- Pickled water eggplant 🍆: The eggplant was full of moisture and very delicious. 🍆
- Shungiku greens in soy sauce. ✨: Coated well with sesame dressing, it had a good flavor. ✨
- Kimchi with new onions 🧅: The crunchy onions were spicy and delicious. 🧅
- Sun-dried squid dishes 🐙: The squid was tender with a pleasant sourness. 🐙
- Izumi honey with cream cheese 🍯🧀: The combination of honey and cream cheese was rich and delightful. 🍯🧀 Inu Nakibuta and Izumi honey are both brands from the Senshu region. 🐷🍯
Hot Dishes:
- Inu Nakibuta gyoza 🥟: I had them with ponzu sauce; the skin was chewy, and the pork was juicy. It was refreshing and delicious paired with ponzu. 🥟
Sashimi:
- Three seasonal types:
- Yellowfin tuna 🐟
- Kanpachi (amberjack) 🐟
- Red shrimp 🦐
The wasabi stem was also served 🔥. The yellowfin tuna was rich and tender. 🐟 Kanpachi was fatty and flavorful, and the red shrimp has a sweet, crunchy texture that was incredibly tasty. 🦐 You could even eat the grilled shells, which were crispy and had a nice umami taste from the shrimp miso. 🦐 The wasabi paired perfectly with everything. 🔥
Charcoal Grilled Fish:
- Miso-marinated fish 🐟: The grilled mackerel was fluffy, with a strong miso flavor, deliciously charred. 🐟 The pickled purple cabbage served alongside was also tasty. 🟣
Specialty:
- Senshu onion misozuke nabe 🍲: I froze grated onions, added dashi, and heated it until dissolved. 🧅🍲 The pork from Senshu brand, Inu Nakibuta 🐷, was cut fresh for shabu-shabu. You dip it in ponzu sauce, which was sweet and refreshing, enhancing the meat's flavor. The chef was kind enough to help with the shabu-shabu for the first round. 🐷 The flavor of the ponzu matched well with the meat. For the second round, I did it myself using egg yolk sauce for a richer taste. 🥚 The meat was tender, and the sauce was flavorful, making it incredibly delicious. 🐷
Vegetables for Shabu Shabu and Mushrooms:
- Enoki mushrooms 🍄
- Shiitake mushrooms
- Thick fried tofu
- Mache
- Chrysanthemum greens
- Lettuce 🥬
All the vegetables were fresh and paired well with ponzu. ✨
Two kinds of seafood and fresh wakame:
- Tiger prawn 🦐
- Conger eel 🐟
- Wakame: The eel was fluffy and refreshing with ponzu. The shrimp had a rich sauce that was delicious. 🥰 The wakame was crunchy, pairing well with the ponzu.
Inu Nakibuta meat miso udon 🐷: Udon topped with tai miso, enhanced by the nabe dashi poured over it. It was delicious combined with the thin udon, sweet miso, and yuzu dashi. ✨ People who enjoy sake usually appreciate this flavor, but those who don’t would also find it tasty. 🥰
I ordered an additional piece of meat. 🐷
Final Rice Dish 🍚: So flavorful, infused with plenty of dashi. The rice absorbed the flavors well, and the egg was fluffy and delicious. 🥚
Tea Dessert 🍨: Handcrafted jam and ice cream from Isaka Sake Brewery. They had fig and apple variations, both of which were delightful. 🍨 Both jam and ice cream were tasty. 🍎
Warm persimmon leaf tea 🍵: I heard persimmon leaves are good for hangovers, so they serve it. The taste was soothing and easy to drink. 🍵
Since there aren’t many opportunities to eat Senshu ingredients, I was happy that the chef served dishes while I watched, allowing me to eat at a good pace. ✨
Although I don't drink much alcohol, it took about two hours, but for those who do drink, the course lasts about two and a half hours. 🍸
You can enjoy eating hot pot in a refreshing way, so I recommend this restaurant, especially for the upcoming season. 🍲
