📍Location: Bangkok, Thailand
Hidden beneath the hotel is the Lon Lon Local Diner, glowing with a warm yellow light in the alley at night, with faint sounds of chatting and laughter, adding a touch of human warmth to the otherwise quiet street.
On Friday night at 8 PM, the restaurant is bustling with many diners, and there are also a few groups waiting outside, but the turnover rate is pretty quick; you can get seated in about ten minutes or so. The space of the restaurant is much larger than expected, giving a sense of a hidden gem, with lively conversations creating a joyful weekend atmosphere.
The entire restaurant is decorated in an American retro style, from the decor to the chairs and tables, and even the utensils are specially chosen. The overall combination looks great and has a good quality feel. As soon as you step in and take a seat, you silently decide you will come back again.😆
The clientele here includes many locals as well as foreign tourists, and the staff speak fluent English. The restaurant has an extremely wide variety of dishes, so many that it can be overwhelming 😵💫, and there are no pictures of any dishes, turning the experience into a large English reading test, making it hard to know where to start. Although there are a few recommended dishes listed on the wall, the text is very small and too far away to see clearly, so it isn’t much help. I randomly ordered a bunch of dishes based on online pictures, with detailed descriptions written on the photos.
This place offers creative Chinese and Thai cuisine, and the dishes are quite exquisite; most of them are very good, but as for the creative dishes, some may not suit my taste as much, not as divine as written on Xiaohongshu, but overall, it’s still pretty good!
I think I would like to visit again or bring colleagues and friends along! Next time, I will do my homework in advance to avoid randomly ordering and stepping on any landmines. Also, it seems the highest-rated item here is the ice cream, especially the "Salted Egg Yolk Ice Cream," which has been mentioned the most! It was unfortunate that we couldn't try all the main dishes this time, but I certainly won't miss it on my next visit.
⚠️ The dishes here are on the spicy side, so it's advisable to order one or two levels less spicy than usual, especially for soups, which can be quite hot, so be cautious.
