📍Location: Bangkok, Thailand

Hidden beneath the hotel is the Lon Lon Local Diner, glowing with a warm yellow light in the alley at night, with faint sounds of chatting and laughter, adding a touch of human warmth to the otherwise quiet street.

On Friday night at 8 PM, the restaurant is bustling with many diners, and there are also a few groups waiting outside, but the turnover rate is pretty quick; you can get seated in about ten minutes or so. The space of the restaurant is much larger than expected, giving a sense of a hidden gem, with lively conversations creating a joyful weekend atmosphere.

The entire restaurant is decorated in an American retro style, from the decor to the chairs and tables, and even the utensils are specially chosen. The overall combination looks great and has a good quality feel. As soon as you step in and take a seat, you silently decide you will come back again.😆

The clientele here includes many locals as well as foreign tourists, and the staff speak fluent English. The restaurant has an extremely wide variety of dishes, so many that it can be overwhelming 😵‍💫, and there are no pictures of any dishes, turning the experience into a large English reading test, making it hard to know where to start. Although there are a few recommended dishes listed on the wall, the text is very small and too far away to see clearly, so it isn’t much help. I randomly ordered a bunch of dishes based on online pictures, with detailed descriptions written on the photos.

This place offers creative Chinese and Thai cuisine, and the dishes are quite exquisite; most of them are very good, but as for the creative dishes, some may not suit my taste as much, not as divine as written on Xiaohongshu, but overall, it’s still pretty good!

I think I would like to visit again or bring colleagues and friends along! Next time, I will do my homework in advance to avoid randomly ordering and stepping on any landmines. Also, it seems the highest-rated item here is the ice cream, especially the "Salted Egg Yolk Ice Cream," which has been mentioned the most! It was unfortunate that we couldn't try all the main dishes this time, but I certainly won't miss it on my next visit.

⚠️ The dishes here are on the spicy side, so it's advisable to order one or two levels less spicy than usual, especially for soups, which can be quite hot, so be cautious.

The restaurant entrance is an unassuming small door.
The restaurant has its own products.
The utilization of space in the store is exquisite, and it feels like there are tables and chairs even in the areas that transition from the restaurant, but it is not too crowded for walking.
It's really a bit too much for two people, too greedy😓. Each dish from their place has a good amount.
Sausage egg fried rice (THB155) I couldn't find the sausage fried rice on the menu, so I directly ordered fried rice with the waiter. The waiter asked whether I wanted seafood or sausage, so we chose sausage. The fried rice was cooked perfectly with each grain distinct, and it was very tasty with the sausage. Occasionally pairing it with a few slices of cucumber added a refreshing touch. I didn't add any chili on the side, as the fried rice was already well-seasoned!
Seabass in garlic and chili sauce (THB325) This dish is quite flavorful with a salty and spicy taste, similar to the braised flavor in Taiwan. It's very delicious, and the fish meat is moist and not dry. The portion when served is shocking; it’s super large, probably containing a whole seabass... In the end, my stomach was completely stuffed with this bowl of fish, each piece is quite big. It's recommended to order more if you’re in a group.
Pomelo salad (THB155) Pomelo salad is relatively common, paired with garlic and chili, it's spicy, sour, and sweet, very refreshing and appetizing. You can also taste cashews, which add a crunchy texture. I personally love this dish 😙
Fried crispy pork belly (THB185) Highly recommended by many, the crispy pork belly has a crunchy skin and tender meat, making it quite delicious. It is slightly on the dry side but can be enjoyed with a dipping chili sauce. It's considered a specialty dish worth ordering.
Spicy stewed duck thigh soup (THB225) The spicy duck thigh soup is the only dish out of all the orders that was a disappointment... Looking at the dark broth, I initially thought it would have a herbal soup base like boat noodles. Since there were also braised eggs and tofu floating in it, I expected it to have a great flavor. However, when I tasted it, it was both sour and spicy, really too spicy to handle 🥵. This sourness and spiciness is different from the Tom Yum's sour and spicy, which I personally can't accept. In the end, I only ate the ingredients inside, and I honestly couldn't drink even a single sip of the broth. Brave souls can give it a try.
