Today, I'm visiting a traditional breakfast shop called "Gao's Meat Bun." My colleagues say that their meat buns and egg pancakes are really delicious, especially the egg pancakes which my colleague highly recommends as a must-try! So, I woke up early and headed to the East District on Jinhua Road to taste these delicious breakfast items!

The exterior of the shop is very simple and unadorned, without excessive decoration. The huge sign feels newly replaced, unlike the classic old shop vibe my colleague mentioned! Inside, there are very few seats, only about four tables for four people, so most of the people in line are taking their food to go! I waited for about 10 minutes and was lucky to get a table for dining in. After the owner guided me to my seat, I ordered their signature egg pancake and soup dumplings. Without further ado, let's dive into the tasting session!

🔸️ Soup Dumplings $60 A basket of soup dumplings has eight pieces, and selling for only $60 really shows compassion. This cost-performance ratio feels very good! Looking at the plump, white soup dumplings, the folds on top are very casual and don’t deliberately pursue the common “eighteen folds.” Instead, they are made freely and comfortably, showcasing a unique style!
The soup dumpling is not very big, slightly larger than a 50-cent coin! I couldn't wait and took a bite. The texture of the dough is quite thick, has a good chewiness, and looks like it wouldn't be very thick, but it has a nice springy quality! The filling is fresh pork mixed with chopped green onions. The taste is savory and refreshing, not greasy, with a slight onion fragrance that brings out the sweetness of the pork filling. Although there isn't much juice, the inside is moist and delicious~ 😋😋
🔸️ Egg pancake $40 The surface is fried to a golden brown with a slight crisp. You can feel the "snap" of the crispy texture when you cut through it with chopsticks! The portion is just right and won't feel too small!
I took a bite – mmm – the crispy pancake paired wonderfully with the fresh and tender egg. With every bite, I could taste the aroma of the egg and the flavor of the pancake, and it was delicious! 😋 The shop makes the pancake skins freshly upon order, and you can really taste the freshness. The pancake skins are really tasty! No wonder my colleagues keep recommending it! Friends passing by recommend that you definitely give the egg pancake a try!
🔸️ Milk Tea $20 Milk tea paired with egg pancakes has always been a classic combination. It’s a must-try when visiting a traditional breakfast shop! The milk tea has a slightly sweet taste, but the milky flavor isn’t very prominent. It feels more like the water-to-milk ratio is off, Next time I come back, I’ll try the soy milk for the drink!
The egg pancakes are made to order. The boss lady is busy preparing delicious meals.
The dough in the store is all made using machines, freshly rolled and kneaded on the same day. The overall environment is kept quite clean.
The seating inside the restaurant is very limited. It was fully booked on that day.
