Wakayama Electric Power Kishish Station - This café is called "Koyama Coffee," located next to the station, and was added during renovations in 2010. The station’s roof is designed to resemble a cat's face and ears. It is named "Koyama" because the station has a "cat station master," whose name is Koyama! (The original Koyama passed away in 2015, and currently "the second generation Koyama" is the cat station master at Kishish Station XD. You can Google for more details about this story.) Today, I was lucky enough to see "the second generation Koyama" lazily sitting in the window, right across from the café. While waiting for the next train back, I specifically came here to order some cat-themed beverages:
📍 Cream Green Tea (Iced) ¥580
🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑
Koyama Iced Matcha, with cute little cat paw prints on top — super adorable!! It's topped with a generous amount of milkshake foam, and tastes rather sweet, though the matcha flavor isn't very prominent. However, it’s very refreshing on a hot day!
📍 Cream Cocoa (Iced) ¥580
🌕🌕🌘🌑🌑
Koyama Iced Cocoa, similarly topped with little cat paw prints made from chocolate! It’s sweet and the cocoa flavor isn’t very strong. The milkshake foam floats on top, and you can sip it with a straw for a rich experience!
▶️ Environment
🔹 The café space isn't very large and can accommodate about 10-15 people.
🔹 It has air conditioning, so it's very cool and comfortable.
🔹 You enter through a large wooden glass door that you have to pull open yourself, and don’t forget to close it!
🔹 There’s also a souvenir shop next to the station and a shrine dedicated to the Koyama cat, so you must check those out while you’re here!
▶️ Overall Evaluation
🔹 I think the beverage prices are quite high, but in a tourist area, it’s understandable XD. It’s nice to come here to enjoy the cool air and relax!
Additionally, I would highly recommend trying the "Float," which has ice cream on top. I saw it enjoyed by other customers, and it looked fantastic! It’s also shaped like a cat!
