I only learned about the beverage brand Karun last year. What used to be a humble drink, Thai milk tea, has now been elevated to another level, with exquisite interior décor and drinks garnished with gold leaf, making it feel like drinking a hand-shaken beverage can be quite fashionable.
This time, I ordered the classic Thai milk tea (12oz, THB 85 + homemade pearls THB 15). The surface of the milk tea is sprinkled with small gold leaf, giving it a luxurious and upscale feeling, and of course, it tastes great! Compared to regular Thai milk tea, it has a richer flavor, and the pearls are very chewy. Even ordering with no sugar makes it quite enjoyable! There are many options for sweetness, and they genuinely adjust the sweetness, unlike many beverage shops where asking for less sugar still results in overly sweet drinks.
This is my second time trying their drinks. Besides beverages, they also sell Thai milk tea smoothies and Gelato, which are highly recommended online and are items I would like to try next time.
Although a cup of Thai milk tea costs over a hundred baht, which is about twice the price of regular beverage shops, I feel it falls within an acceptable range. The refinement and uniqueness of the drinks are evident, and for such quality, I’m willing to pay for it. Compared to another Michelin-recommended place, Pang Cha, I think Karun offers much better value for money. I probably won’t have the opportunity to write a review for Pang Cha, as its prices feel like an "intelligence tax," and it doesn’t seem worth that value. There’s a branch at Bangkok airport, so if anyone visits Thailand, they can give it a try and compare.
