Let me share with you a time-honored pastry shop in Taipei that opened a new souvenir shop in Ximen this year. There are a variety of items in the store, and most of them provide tastings. They can be purchased individually or packaged in gift boxes, which is very convenient!
Their main product is Liu Xin Su. The following is my personal taste experience.
-Phoenix Liuxin Cake-is a pineapple cake on the outside, and the filling is sweet. The salted egg yolk flavor is less obvious, and the sweetness level is 80-90%. Personally, I don’t like their soft leather so much.
-Taro Pastry - Taro paste is not as sweet as pineapple, about five points, it is dense and has an oily skin. I personally like this better.
-Pork floss cake - there is meat floss with pineapple filling, but the flavor of the meat floss will be taken away by the sweetness of the pineapple filling. The sweetness is also 70% and the skin is soft.
-Jinsha Egg Yolk Crisp-The middle egg yolk is crushed and ground, and the taste is relatively moist. The outer layer is made of red bean filling, and there are red bean particles, so it is not too sweet. The texture of the outer skin is also soft.
-Strawberry Popsicle-The sweet and sour taste of strawberry is unexpectedly not so greasy, and the sweetness level is six points
-Suncake-The taste has no layering and no flour aroma. The maltose in the middle is quite satisfactory and has no memorable points.
-Milk puff pastry-it’s hard to tell what’s the difference between milk puff pastry and suncake
-Scallion Nougat Pancake-The nougat itself is not hard or chewy, and the scallion pancake is quite satisfactory.
